How it all started…
The origin of Tourism Group International reads like a children’s book. For ages, the city of Amsterdam has been known for its entrepreneurial spirit and hard work. This mentality fits Erik de Visser, founder of our company, like a glove.
Erik started working in tourism as a 13-year-old boy in the centre of Amsterdam. Taking pictures of tourists on his parents’ canal cruise and selling tickets at the dock. In 1983, the company Tours & Tickets was established. With his can-do mentality, he grew the business from a small local start-up to a leader in Urban Tourism in the Netherlands.
In 2012 he joined forces with entrepreneur Henk Philip to create Tourism Group International. Together they built a strong organisation that includes ticketing, nautical, attraction, museum, excursion and hospitality activities. With omni-channel consumer touchpoints and well-rated brand experiences.

With omni-channel consumer touchpoints and well-rated brand experiences, we now sell over 4,5 million tickets on a yearly basis through our ticket offices, online channels, attraction box offices, PDA’s (handheld sales), shop-in-shops and partner platforms.
